Interpretive Clay Figure
Grades 9-12

Students created an interpretive figurative sculpture representing a movement, expression or feeling of their choosing. Introductory mini lessons included discussion of static and dynamic figure poses, a participatory group gesture drawing, and a construction demonstration. Reinforcing imagery and project criteria were displayed for lesson reinforcement. Students were asked to self-assess through written explanation of their thought process and how they addressed the requirements of the lesson.  Further assessment included the use of design and technique vocabulary as well as a teacher evaluation.
